Grand Master Harold Halterman
Owner, Director and Master Instructor
Grand Master Halterman started training in 1968 while in the military. Married in 1974 to Kathy, they have two children, Sam, born in 1977, and Kristy, born in 1980. Grand Master Halterman trained in Okinawan and Japanese Goju-Ryu and other sytle such as Chinese Ching Lung, Tai Chi (Yang Style) and Tuite (pressure point striking).
He founded Halterman Karate Institute at 95 North Main Street in Harrisonburg in 1977, and moved to the present location at 16 Pleasant Hill Road in 1990.
Grand Master Halterman holds the titles of:
Kancho - Head of a worldwide organization.
Kyoshi - Instructor of Instructors
Hanshi - Instructor of Masters

Master Joe Trout begin training in 1985 and received his black belt December 3rd 1989, He has won numerous awards in GoJu Ryu Karate including Runner-up in weapon in the East Coasts Tournament Circuit. In 1988 and 1989, Master Trout was also ranked nationally in weapons, kata, and sparring by the AKL/PKL Karate League In 1989.
